On September 6, 2023, starting at 8:00 AM, thousands will gather at the west steps of the California State Capitol to kick off National Recovery Month. The event will feature the annual recovery walk and roll, and banner contest, which always has a fantastic turnout and participation; Wilton Rancheria, Miwok Land Acknowledgment; and an official resolution recognizing National Recovery Month. Last year, a large crowd gathered and cheered at the west steps as actor, advocate, and addiction counselor Danny Trejo told his recovery story with humor, compassion, and inspiration.
